ATEX-certified Explosion-Proof Heaters provide natural convection heating for electrical equipment installed in hazardous areas where explosive atmospheres may be present due to flammable gases, vapors, combustible dust, or combustible metal dust.
In addition to maintaining a stable enclosure temperature, these heaters prevent condensation and moisture accumulation inside electrical enclosures. Moisture, particularly when combined with corrosive gases or dust, can accelerate atmospheric corrosion and reduce the reliability of electrical components such as circuit breakers, busbars, relays, transformers, and electronic assemblies.
Component failures may result from insulation degradation, flashover, creepage currents, or changes in electrical resistance. Maintaining the relative humidity below approximately 60% significantly reduces the risk of condensation and corrosion. By keeping the enclosure temperature approximately 5°C above the ambient dew point, Hilkar Explosion-Proof Heaters provide reliable condensation protection while maintaining safe operation in hazardous environments.
